NICOLAS VIENNET
XVIITH CENTURY
PIERRE JOSEPH VIENNET
Born in 1734, he was the son of Pierre Joseph Viennet. Military, he was elected deputy of the legislative assembly in 1791 and at the Convention in 1792. He votes against the death of Louis XVIth. His straight forwardness and qualities gave him the nickname of the ''The Roman'' or ''The honest man of the Convention''.
JEAN PONS GUILLAUME VIENNET
1777 - 1868
Jean Pons Guillaume Viennet
A political figure, poet, writer, he was also member of the ''Academie française''. Marine artillery officer, he was made prisoner in Plymouth during eight months in 1797 and at Leipzig in 1813. Once liberated, he retired from the army as a lieutenant colonel. Elected deputy of Béziers in 1830, he contributed to the July Monarchy.

Member of the Convention, whose surname, due to his perfect behaviour was called ''The Roman'' or ''The honest man of the Convention''. (Constitutional convention during the French Revolution 1792-1795).

The same year he was offered the chair n° 22 at the French Academy while pursuing his literary work : novels, opera, tragedies, comedies, epistles and fables. He was a close friend of the King Louis Philippe who gave him the rank of ''pair de France'' in 1839.

High dignitary of the old Scottish free-masons recognised in France, he became from 1860 to his death at the age of 90, ''Grand Maître'' with the title of ''Souverain grand commandeur'' of the ''Suprême Conseil de France''. He died without descendance on the 10th of July 1868 at Val-Saint-Germain, near Dourdan and is burried in Paris at Père Lachaise.
AUGUSTE LOUIS JOSEPH BARTHÉLÉMY VIENNET
1781 - 1867
He acquired Raissac and modernised the domain, a task which will be followed up by his eldest son Louis-Joseph Viennet (1813-1881), lawyer and also MP of the Herault district in 1871. Louis Viennet transformed the building into what we see today. During the XXth century, his Grandson Louis Viennet (1885-1975 ), bibliophile and founder of the Béziers Rugby club in 1911, took over the domain and lived there his entire life.

LOUIS JOSEPH VIENNET
1813 - 1881
Son of Auguste Louis Joseph Barthelemy Viennet, he was a lawyer and deputy in the Herault department from 1871 to 1876.
ALBERT JOSEPH VIENNET
1842 - 1925
Son of Louis Joseph Viennet. He modernises the domaine of Raissac, transforming the mansion into the château we see today.
LOUIS VIENNET
1885 - 1975
Son of Albert Joseph Viennet. Founder of the Béziers rugby club ASB with Jules Cadenat, he lived all his life at the château de Raissac.
GUY VIENNET - 1912 - 1995
DENISE VIENNET - 1920
Nephew of Louis Viennet and his wife, grand daughter of Gustave Fayet (Abbaye de Fontfroide), they buy the domaine from Louis Viennet and start the restorations allowing their son Jean Viennet and his wife Christine to continue and give a new life and beauty to Raissac.
